Welcome to the CORTADO project

This is a research project about using underwater recordings to monitor whales. Specifically, we are focusing on using two types of underwater recordings: recordings from underwater earthquake sensors (that also record whales!) and recordings from an International Monitoring System designed to detect nuclear explosions. We want to use these recordings to estimate the the number of whales.
You can find out what CORTADO stands for here, which describes the project in a little more detail.
One of the main aims of CORTADO was to produce training materials so that other researcher could replicate our analyses. You can find all training materials here.
